Често задавани въпроси (FAQ)

How do you make your soap?

Our artisan bar soaps are made from scratch. We mix selected plant oils with water and lye, then we stir until saponification and pour each soap batch in wooden moulds, where the soap is left to set for 24-48 hours. After the soap logs are set, we cut them into bars and leave them to air dry for at least 4 weeks to evaporate moisture and increase their hardness and mildness. Voila - soap!

So soap is made with lye? Can it burn my skin?

No. Our soap recipes are calculated to prevent an excess of lye - instead, they contain unsaponified oils and butters, which wonderfully nourish and moisturise your skin. All the lye we put in the soap pot is used to saponify the plant oils, and is not present in the final product. Rest assured, we also test the pH of each and every batch when we cut it into bars to ensure they are as mild as possible.

Does your soap contain glycerin? I don´t see it listed as an ingredient.

Yes! All our soaps are naturally high in glycerin, which is a natural product of the saponification process. It contributes to the moisturising properties of our soaps as it's a natural humectant. You will not find it listed in the Ingredients list as it is a by-product of the soaping process.

How long will my soap last?

Good question! We usually find that our soaps last up to 4 weeks, depending on the size of your household, whether you use the bar to bathe or just as a hand soap, and also depending on the way you store it between uses.

Handcrafted soap, due to its high glycerin content, retains water easily and tends to dissolve a lot quicker if left to stand in water. To extend the life span of your artisan bar, keep it on a quality draning dish.

Natural soap never expires, neither does it grow mold or bacteria - it only increases its cleansing properties over time. Our recommended usage period of 12 months from the date of manufacture ensures that your soap remains wonderfully scented and all plant oils used to make it remain fresh. We encourage our customers to store unused soaps in a dark, dry place, until you need them - this will prevent them absorbing moisture from the air and retain their lovely smell for as long as possible!

You say your soaps are vegan?

Yes. It was very important to us from the start to provide a vegan-friendly alternative to the handcrafted soap that our babas were stirring in their kitchens. Soap was traditionally made from lard or tallow to add cleansing properties and hardness to the soap. We made it our mission to create recipes that are high-performance while formulated without any animal derivatives - we guarantee you'll be happy with the result!

How do you colour your soaps?

We use oxides, pigments and micas to achieve the vibrant colours of our soaps. All our cosmetic-grade colorants are created in a laboratory environment to avoid heavy metal contamination from mining, and are nature-identical.

My skin is very sensitive / I suffer from allergies - can I still use your soap?

All our soaps are very gentle, however we do recommend that you do a patch test to ensure you are not allergic to any of the essential oil constituents.

Our Sensitive soap might work wonderfully for you as it's unscented, uncoloured and contains a naturally infused calendula for a soothing effect. You are welcome to try it - and we'd love to hear about your experience using it!

I´m pregnant - can I use your soaps?

Congratulations! We hope that you enjoy your pregnancy :)

While some essential oils are safe to use even in your third trimester, we encourage you to do your own research before purchasing one of our scented products. A 100% safe option is our Sensitive soap, which is free of essential oils. We'll be happy to talk about this in more detail, and you are welcome to send us a message with your concerns.

Can I wash my baby with your soaps?

Our soaps are super gentle, even for the most delicate skin! We do however recommend that you use them on children aged 3 years old and above.

Does your soap sting? What is its pH value?

Soap is naturally alkaline, with a pH of 8-9 and above. While we formulate our soaps to be very mild, their alkaline nature means that they may sting your eyes as well as any open wounds and cuts. This is a completely natural reaction, and for your personal comfort do take care to prevent soap from getting onto those areas.

Natural soap is an alkaline salt, which means that its pH is higher than the normal pH of skin (about 5.5). Since soap is a rinse-off product, healthy skin will naturally restore its lower-pH-value acid mantle soon after you've come out the shower. To further encourage this restoration process, our soaps are carefully formulated to contain free unsaponified plant oils and butters that wonderfully nourish your skin while you bathe.

How effective is natural soap against bacteria?

Several studies have been conducted on this topic, one of which notably concluded that plain soap has exactly the same cleansing properties as antibacterial soaps. To ensure maximum efficacy against bacterial contamination, lather up and rub your palms, the backs of your hands and your fingers with the soap bar, and scrub for at least 20 seconds (the CDC recommend humming the Happy Birthday song twice to pass the time!) Always dry your hands after washing to prevent any germ transfer.

Will my soap be the same every time I place an order?

Due to the handcrafted nature of our products, there might be slight differences in the appearance, scent or weight of the final bar. However, we promise you they will be gorgeous every single time!
